About Allan and Mhairi
Allan Lipp is full-time coxswain with the RNLI on the Wick lifeboat. Allan started his career volunteering as lifeboat crew in 1996 in Invergordon. He went on to work as a fleet staff coxswain supporting crews around the country, before moving to Wick in 2020.
Mhairi Ross is a paramedic with the Scottish Ambulance Service and a volunteer navigator with the RNLI on the Wick lifeboat, bringing both emergency medical care and navigational skills to the team.
Together, they have over 35 years of sea-going service, making them a formidable team, well-prepared to handle the challenges they faced during the journey.
The pair took several months of unpaid leave from their jobs to commit to the challenge. They followed a strict training regime in the lead up to their departure, scheduling gym training around their busy work shifts.
Although the journey is currently paused, you can still support Allan and Mhairi by making a donation to their Just Giving page.
